Himachali Women Win Under-23 North Zone Cricket Tourney

htwNikita Chauhan with her fantastic inning of 213 runs in 170 balls led the team Himachal to victory over Jammu & Kashmir in the final match of Under-23 North Zone Women Cricket Championship. The final match was held at Khalsa College Stadium, Amritsar. Nikita played a blasting inning with bat while Tanuja showed her bowling skills and made Himachal victorious. Himachal won over J&K by a huge margin of 266 runs. Nikita scored 213 runs including 27 fours and two sixes. Team Himachal, while batting first, put a huge 358 runs score on the board. Team J&K, while responding to Himachal could only score 92 runs in 21.4 overs and got all out. Tanuja Kanwar from Himachal took seven wickets by giving just 25 runs.

htw10 teams from the power sector including Ministry of Power, Central Electricity Authority, Damodar Valley Corporation, Power Grid, NEEPCO, SJVNL, PFC, BBMB, THDC and NHPC participated in the four-day 19th Inter Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Table Tennis tournament held in Chamba. The tournament was conducted by Himachal Pradesh Table Tennis Association. Three events, team, doubles and singles were held on the premises of NHPC’s Chamera Power Station-I at Khairi in Chamba. In the team event, Power Grid emerged victorious while SJVNL and BBMB remained 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively. In singles, J. Mukherjee of Power Grid, Jeta Ukhal of SJVNL and Ravi Chaudhary of Power Grid emerged as winner, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up respectively. In doubles, J. Mukherjee and Charanjeet Singh of Power Grid emerged winner, while the team comprising of Inderesh of the Ministry of Power and Naresh Chhibber of CEA held 1st runner-up position. Paramjit Singh and Navneet Gupta of BBMB emerged as 2nd runner-up. Balraj Joshi, Director (Technical), NHPC felicitated and congratulated the winning teams and appreciated all players for their participation. Trophies, medals and certificates were presented to the winners.

18 Himachalis For World Winter Games

Himachal This Week, Shimla

18 Himachali special players have secured their places in the Indian team for World Winter Games to be held in Austria from March 13, 2017. In the Himachali suqad, there are 17 differently-abled players, while one is a unified partner. Players from different districts of the state has been selected for the games including two from Kangra, one each from Kullu, Shimla and Una, six from Bilaspur, two from Mandi, two from Chamba and three from Solan. A training camp for these players would be organised at Dharampur.

Floor Hockey: Rajesh from Kangra, Snow Boarding: Jyoti Bala from Kangra, Thakur Das from Kullu, Sanjay Kumar and Kanchan Devi from Chamba, Sanjay Kumar from Solan and Pooja and Jaswinder Kaur from Bilaspur. Alpine Skiing: Kunal Sood from Shimla, Megha and Mahesh from Solan, Deepak, Shivanjali, Najma and Usha from Bilaspur and Shubham from Mandi. Figure Skating: Shikha Rani from Una. Unified Partner: Indra from Mandi
