‘People Decide About Leaders In Democracy’

Known for his maneuvers to show his existence in every political turmoil, Transport Minister GS Bali is keeping everybody guessing these days due to his statements. When asked whether upcoming assembly elections will decide about leader of Kangra district, he said people decide about leaders in a democracy. ‘People will decide as to who will be Kangra’s leader,” he told while interacting with Himachal This Week team at Divya Himachal headquarter. Talking about different issues confronting Congress party and state government, he said that the government will repeat if it has done good work for people of the state. However, I don’t want to predict about future, Bali asserted.  Commenting about grant of second capital status to Dharamshala, Transport Minister said Chief Minister can tell about the blue print to convert a town into second capital and I have already raised this issue from the first day after announcement. Elaborating his closeness with VS Mankotia, he said, “Mankotia is my family friend and neighbour. There was no discussion when he was brought in and while he was removed. Such decisions are taken on merits and those should think who take such decisions”. Transport Minister opined that state government tried to please everybody during its present tenure. “Financial management and law and order situation could have been improved by handling these issues sensitively,” he added. Bali pointed out that state government has done enough on developmental front but I believe that people should get direct benefit of projects. “I can talk about myself and you can analyse working of other,” he said while highlighting achievements of Transport, Technical Education and Civil Supplies departments. He was of the firm opinion that focus should be on quality education as days of quantity education were over now.
