Tight Security For Vidhan Sabha Elections In Himachal

electionsThere will be tight security for upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections in Himachal. The dates for elections in this hill state are yet to be announced, but preparations are going full scale from now on for security during that period. According sources, more than 17,000 cops and home guard jawans will be deployed for security during elections in the state. Besides this companies of Central Reserve Police Force will also be pressed into the service for conducting free and fair polls in a peaceful manner. About 49.05 lakh voters will use their right to vote in 68 constituencies of Himachal. A total of 7516 polling centres will be established for election this time amidst tight security of state police, home guards and central reserve police force. In 2012 elections, a total of 7253 polling centres including 767 sensitive and 1310 highly sensitive  polling centres were established in Himachal. However this time, 263 more polling centres will be established for vidhan sabha elections. Besides extra polling centres, more police force will also be pressed into service for fair and impartial elections. This time more than 7500 home guards will also be deployed for election duty, said sources. Like previous elections, home guards from other states could be deployed for security during elections. About 6200 police cops and 1053 home guards from Uttarakhand were deployed for election duty in 2012 vidhan sabha elections in Himachal. There is also a probability of deploying 70 to 75 central reserve police force companies in high sensitive booths for election duty in Himachal this time.

The police department has pressed the pedal for vidhan sabha elections duty expected to be held in November month in Himachal. The police department has charted a plan for the same. Soon after the announcement of vidhan sabha elections dates, police department will send daily report of law and order situation in the state to central election commission through state chief election officer.
