htwhtw The D-day for Dance Himachal Dance Season-5, the only dance talent hunt of its kind is here. Today we will get the best dancers of the state in grand finale of DHD-5 at NIT, Hamirpur. Recently, its semifinals were held at Basant Resort, Hamirpur to select the finalists. Participants in junior and senior categories showed magnificent dancing skills to enthrall all. Dancers created a wonderful atmosphere and won the hearts of all.  Whether it was western dance, classical or folk dance, all contestants rocked the stage with their brilliant performances. They tried to win hearts of judges as well as the audience. To give tough competition to their counterparts, every contestant practiced hard in between auditions and semifinal. Various group dance performances were appreciated by all. Solo dancers were also awesome on the stage. Like group dancers they also showed their talent and won hearts of judges. Notably, auditions for the DHD were conducted in different places of the state from which semifinalists were shortlisted. Auditions were held at Kullu, Sundernagar, Hamirpur, Barsar, Una, Nalagarh, Paonta Sahib, Solan, Shimla and Bilaspur. The contestants showed their talent in all stages of the competition and semifinalists were chosen by judges after judging every step of the dancing stars. Now, this is the time for finalists to prove their mettle in the grand finale. We wish them all the best!

Dussehra Festivities In Kullu

htwThe week-long Kullu Dussehra festival got off to a spectacular conclusion with traditional fanfare and the return of Raghunathji, the presiding deity of the valley to Sultanpur Temple.  During the festivity, the entire town turned into a confluence point for palanquins of hundreds of deities. All the deities congregated at Dhalpur Ground to pay obeisance to Lord Raghunath, the presiding deity of Dussehra. The crowded town looked as if it has no space for people to stand with lakhs of devotees, including thousands of tourists, thronging the place to witness the centuries old tradition of Kullu valley. This year, people witnessed Lomas Rishi during the fair, who participated in the event after 65 years. Highlight of the fair was procession of the chariot of Lord Raghunath (Lord Rama) in presence of over 250 deities and thousands of devotees, moving to the beats of divine music of drums and trumpets. Town was echoing with traditional music by thousands of drummers and trumpeters for the entire event. Cultural nights included performances by some renowned artists of Himachal and outside to enhance charm of festivities. Famous singer Raja Hasan along with Himachal’s Payal Thakur performed and mesmerised audience. Bollywood singer Palak Munchal also graced the stage with her captivating musical performance. Other Himachali artists have also given their spectacular performances. Various food and clothes stalls attracted a huge crowd. A modelling show was also organised where models presented various local and western attires.
