Helping Hand For Damaged God Houses

The state Language, Arts and Culture Department has devised a new policy, named Vishesh Ghatak Yojana, to extend a helping hand to the temples devastated because of natural calamities and other reasons in Himachal Pradesh. The department will provide financial help to the managing committees for renovation of damaged old temples. However to avail benefit under this plan, temple priest or other temple owners will have to complete all departmental formalities.

District Arts, Language and Culture officer, Bilaspur Neelam Chandel said that a provision has been made under the plan to provide grant to temple of any deity, religious institutions, memorials and heritage ancient places. Besides this, there is a provision for providing help to restore the ancient form of ancient temples, memorials and religious places that are about 50 years old.

Proposals have been invited under the plan from managing committees of religious institutes, ancient memorials or temples damaged because of natural reasons of calamities or whose structure has become irreparable because of technical reasons to reestablish them in their old style and structure. However the grant will not be extended to religious institute, temple or memorial

 if it is a private property of a person. The grant will be extended to religious institution or memorial only if it is a public property or constructed on a government land. The Language Officer Neelam Chandel while talking to Himachal This Week said that applicant will have to send the relevant documents to the department through district language officer.

This formality is mandatory so as to ensure that the applicants fulfills the objectives, primary terms and conditions of this plan, added Neelam. The application will be sought from the concerned party only if it fulfills the criteria and rules framed under the plan.
