Political Vacuum After Elections In Himachal

Himachal This Week

Offices of the political parties are desolate as every one is on the television or running to chowk for latest gupshup. Interestingly, the channels are distributed amongst the viewers; the BJP knows some to watch and Congress watches others. Everyone is claiming that one is winning. So far we have not come across a single lament of the likely  defeated candidate.

The binoculars are so assiduously held by the party loyalists that they do not see the other side at all. It is heard that in some constituencies there is fist fight in the taverns over victory or defeat of the favourite candidate. There is also speculation about the black sheep who will lose party posts or membership for defying the party command. But celebrations of those who are certain to win are going on. The BJP candidate and his supporters in are already in celebratory mood. Similar is the mood in a couple of assembly segments in Hamirpur district.

Most of the attention and activity has shifted to Gujarat which is going to elections that are highly contestable. Earlier the BJP had easy walk down the victory lane but this time Patidar reservation agitation being supported by the Congress is creating formidable roadblocks for the party in power. As the prestige and power of highest leadership in the BJP and Congress is on trial, everyone is looking with curiosity to this quagmire in a crucial area where Modi ruled for 10 years. Worst picture of Patel reservation being supported by the Congress only to belittle Modi is making the voters sit up. A poor aspect of this mess is porn CDs being circulated in the social media bringing down the reputation of Hardik Patel, Patidar leader now in Rahul’s fold.

The BJP seems to exhibit confidence by assertion that where the campaigning has peaked for the Congress, the same is going to begin with Modi likely to join vigorously. The trial is on and it will show which side the wind blows.

Extending A Helping Hand…

Jaso Ram was leading deserted life in a rain shelter in Fatehpur area of Dharamshala after his family abandoned him. Nearby shopkeepers had been arranging for his food for many years. Then came the turning point in his life as was brought to the notice of Divya Himachal by a girl Shagun from Yol. The administration learnt about the case when a news item was published in Divya Himachal. Acting swiftly, the administration immediately shifted Jaso Ram to old age home at Dari. And now he is getting all facilities as extended to other inmates of old age home.

The rescued Jaso Ram was shifted to Old Age Home at Dari.
