Revolt Of Rebels

This is regarding Himachal This Week’s cover story of October 28, 2017, “Revolt Of Rebels”. It happens in every elections many workers enter electoral fray as independent candidates. As only one leader will get party ticket from one assembly segment, others in race for the same feel disappointed. To show their resentment besides testing mass base, such leaders often contest as independent candidates. They only spoil poll prospects of official candidates thus bringing embarrasment to the party. This phenomena is not restricted to any particular party but is prevalent in all political parties. The candidates winning as independents can sometime play important role in government formation as was witnessed in Himachal during 1998 assembly elections.

Election Atmosphere

Political activities are at peak during election time. Different parties offer lucrative offers during this festival time. However voters should be wise enough to cast their votes depending upon the vision of political parties and not due to allurements offered by them. There was a direct fight between the Congress and BJP in Himachal assembly alections. As a result, this hilly state was agog with hectic political activities. However, the voters are aware to differentiate between saying and doing of the parties in Himachal.
