Ice-Skating Session In Shimla

First session of skating at historic ice-skating rink located in Lakkar Bazar in Shimla was held after a gap of three years. Though it brought cheers for youths but no more skating session were held thereafter. About 15 skaters participated in over an hour session that was organised in the beginning of December by the ice-skating club. Locals and visitor were disappointed during past three years as no ice-skating sessions were held.

The club is charging half fees from members for skating both in senior and junior categories. Same rate would also apply for visitors also who wish to enjoy this facility. Shimla Ice-skating Club joint secretary Rajan Bhardwaj says that weather holds the key for holding Shimla Ice-skating Winter Carnival. Many events would be held in the carnival proposed to be held in December end provided weather conditions remain favourable, he adds. Ice-skating sessions were closed for a week after the first session was held on December 3.
