Disparity In Sports Rewards?

This is regarding Himachal This Week’s cover story of January 20, 2017, “Disparity in Sports Rewards?”. Sportspersons from this hilly state have been performing outstandingly in national and international competitions. They have been bringing laurels for the state and country in different sports. We should encourage and promote sportspersons by extending support to them. The state government should also evaluate achievements of all sportspersons in international competitions. It should be the criteria for announcing cash incentives and also offering suitable posts in government jobs commensurate with their achievements. It would be good if proper norms are framed under a concrete policy for offering employment in governemnt jobs.

CM’s Relief Fund

The government has intiated various schemes to extend help to the needy persons. However, financial assitance is also provided through Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in emergent situation. All should contribute towards this fund as Chief Minister has also donated Rs. 2 lakh besides exhorting ministers and MLAs to contribute in this fund. Social workers and non-governmental organisation can help to make it a campaign. Hundreds of persons are benefitted every year through this fund. It should also be ensured that targeted sections should get benefit of this fund.
