Winter Sojourn: Dhoom At Dharamshala

This is regarding Himachal This Week’s cover story of February 3, 2017, “Winter Sojourn: Dhoom At Dharamshala”.  People turned in large numbers during visit of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to lower areas. It was his first winter sojourn after the BJP government was formed in Himachal. Aim of Chief minister’s visit to lower areas to know about the problems faced by people and on the spot redressal. The tradition started by former chief minister Virbhadra Singh to visit lower areas during winter months has become a permanent feature every year. However, people feel that winter session of Himachal assembly at Tapovan and Chief Minister’s winter sojourn should be of longer duration so that more people are benefitted.

Blot On Himachal

Rape and murder of a young lady in Kangra district has once again brought a bad name to Himachal even as Kotkhai episode is yet to reach a definitive conslusion. Such incidents not only expose government’s tall claims but also raise a question mark on alertness of the administration. It is duty of the society along with government and administration to curb happening of such henious incidents. Locals need to keep a watchful eyes on happenings in their respective areas. We hope that administration acts swiftly to put culprits behind the bars.
