Politics of Unemployment Allowance

Political leaders will not find it easy to rope in youths as there are no answers to numerous challenges confronting this section. Relevance of unemployment allowance needs to be understood in the backdrop of soaring aspirations of younger generation that strives to achieve great milestones. Is it possible to win the trust of youths in the name of unemployment allowance? Those considering it as a political solution should also understand social, economic and practical aspects of unemployment allowance. Himachal is becoming a state where every child wants a white-collared job. They are ready to wait till the age of forty five years looking for a government job and continue on a contractual basis. As a result, we are unable to tap youth’s potential successfully. Himachal’s progress will suffer if we continue our dependence on human resources from other states. What we are teaching in schools and colleges to make youth competitive or self reliant? It is important to invest state’s resources by identifying youth’s direction. We are forgetting the need of creating infrastructure for future generation in the midst aspirations for new districts and an additional capital. Linking every possibility in tourism sector with self employment will pave the way for employment opportunities. How Himachali youth have been benefitted from the development model established in previous years? It remains to be seen how much percentage of Himachal youths are associated with construction of upcoming national highways in the state. Has any survey been conducted to know youth’s views about their future? One needs to investigate and explain as to why unemployment allowance is being projected as an employment. Development of infrastructure in villages is must create employment opportunities for every youth.
